Q: Will
ASMANEX® replace my rescue
inhaler?
A: No,
ASMANEX® cannot replace your rescue inhaler
for sudden symptoms or attacks, but for patients 12 and older, using
ASMANEX® 220 mcg every day, as directed, may
help reduce the number of times you need to use the rescue
inhaler.
Q: What kind of medicine is
ASMANEX®?
A:
ASMANEX® is an inhaled corticosteroid.
Doctors consider inhaled corticosteroids to be highly effective for managing
asthma symptoms.
Q: How does
ASMANEX®
work?
A: As with many drugs, the exact way that
ASMANEX® works is not known. The active
ingredient in ASMANEX® has anti-inflammatory
activity. Corticosteroids such as
ASMANEX® have been shown to work in a
number of different ways to help manage the symptoms
of asthma.
Q: Is ASMANEX®
220 mcg safe?
A: You should know that, like all
prescription products, ASMANEX® can have
some side effects, but most are generally mild to moderate.
Q: When can I expect
results?
A: Use
ASMANEX® daily, since its effectiveness
depends on regular use. Maximum benefit may not be achieved for 1 to 2
weeks or longer after starting treatment. If symptoms do not improve in that
time frame or if the condition worsens, you should contact your
doctor.
Q: How does the
ASMANEX®
TWISTHALER®
work?
A: The
TWISTHALER® is breath activated, no
hand-breath coordination is required. When you replace the cap, it
automatically readies your next dose. The
TWISTHALER® even has an automatic counter
that keeps track of how many doses you have left.
Q: Do I need to rinse out my mouth after using my
TWISTHALER®?
A: As with other inhaled corticosteroids,
it's recommended that you rinse out your mouth after using
ASMANEX®.
